ABOUT Cheryl Griffin

Ms. Cheryl L. Griffin is an educator of 26 years.  Her passion and expertise lie in the heart of education and working with teenagers.  Her focus is to make sure teenagers are always given an opportunity to embrace a cultivating and welcoming environment to thrive to their full potential. Moreover, now in the world we live in today, to make it her intentions to collaborate with parents who are raising teenagers to help them navigate through this part of their life that may seem a bit of a challenge. Born in Passaic, New Jersey and then later moved to North Carolina. She knew in the fourth grade she wanted to become a teacher.  Playing school with her dolls and neighborhood friends, she was always the teacher.   She knew around the age of 5 she had a talent to write and draw. She can always remember sitting at her aunt’s kitchen table in New Jersey, on Friday nights with her drawing tablet, finding pictures in her kitchen to draw and writing her own captions to fit the illustrations.  It wasn’t until her middle school years that she discovered the love of creative writing.  The art of writing my own poems started in 6th grade.  When she enrolled in a creative writing class the class paved the way for her to explore all types of parameters in the art of poetry. From the very first start I’ve learned to cultivate and craft vivid descriptions of things and topics into my own craft of writing. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Limestone University, and a master’s from Gardner Webb University in School Administration. She is the owner of Cheryl G’s Event Planning and Supportive Bridges, LLC.  Member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The proud mother of two adult children, and two grandchildren.

Prior to exploring the expertise of writing, her high school teacher discovered that she exemplified a talent for public speaking, and she entered an oratory competition her senior year in high school. Upon graduation she went on to obtain a public speaking license and became a lay speaker. She has spoken for various events at church, school, and other affairs. Public speaking to parents along with their teenagers has created a rewarding opportunity for her to reach out with humanity to support parents of teenagers.  The heart of loving what, she does inspired her to write this book after observing in   the  classroom daily the challenges teenagers are facing and  observing the emotional outbreaks from the cry of parents needing  strategies  parenting teenagers during a time such as this and the love teenagers are craving.
